Explore Design is a not-to-be-missed event for aspiring young designers at the Metro Convention Center starting TOMORROW from 9am-5pm and 9am-3pm on Oct 15. South Building, Halls F & G.

10 REALLY COOL THINGS TO DO

1. ECO DESIGN. Kids learn eco tricks of the trade from seasoned design professionals in the Design for the Greater Good Series, a seminar program dedicated to environmentally and socially conscious design. Attend a talk by Now House Architect David Fujiwara on green residential buildings.

2. VIDEO GAME ON. Thinking about a career in gaming? Get the inside scoop on the latest development platforms in video game development and production from Jean Paul Amore of George Brown College.

3. RUB ELBOWS…
with landscape design professionals like James Dale and Lorne Hancook, of Earth Inc. the featured foursome of the new hit HGTV series, Dirty Business.

4. PLAY XBOX…at the Microsoft Student Lounge and test your skills at the latest games. Microsoft Canada is proud to be the title sponsor at Explore Design this year.

5. LISTEN-UP… as Andrew Noakowski of RAC Digital Arts College demonstrates cutting edge techniques used in various sound design, including music recording, film scores, sound design for film, TV and game design.

6. BIKE DESIGN. Hear and See Motorcycle Maven Michael Uhlarik, the award winning designer of recreational vehicles for Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. Find out what it takes to design motorcycles for a living.

7. CHANNEL IRONMAN. Calling anyone who saw Ironman and was awestruck by Robert Downey Junior’s interactive computer display system. Microsoft presents Windows 7 Multitouch, a way-cool interactive system that literally allows you to grab data and images with your hands – fundamentally changing the way we use digital content.

8. LOGO WORKSHOP. Students sit in on Design Dialogues and Seminars about portfolio design and logo design. Participate in a logo design workshop with expert Bob Hambly of Hambly Woolley, designer of the Niagara Ice Dogs logo.

9. CRITICAL CAREER MOVES. Meet alumni and representatives from 70 of the best design schools and programs from across North America including the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California or the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland.

10. WHAT’S BEHIND THE MOVIES? Learn about the design of cinemas and entertainment complexes from Cineplex’s VP of Design and Construction, Bill Tishler.

Tickets are available on site for $15 each and include a full day of seminars, workshops, speakers, and exhibits, or $12 each for groups of 20 or more.
